Collection: Patchwork kits

All our kits contain the assortment of necessary fabrics for making the top of the quilt and the instructions in the form of a tutorial.

Templates are generally not necessary because the pieces are printed directly on the fabric.

For small quilts and children's blankets, the fabric for the back of the quilt is usually included in the kit and customizable with the child's name.

For large quilts, the backing fabric is offered as an option.

Batting is sometimes included for small models.

Sewing threads and quilting threads are not included.

On the product sheet for each model, you will find a detailed list of what this specific kit contains.

Our kits are designed to make your life easier and can be made with a minimum of equipment.

Of course, you will need the basic sewing equipment:

• Needles and pins
• A good pair of scissors (preferably reserved for cutting fabric)
• Sewing machine unless you choose a small model or have time to sew a large quilt by hand
• A cutter, ruler, and cutting mat are very useful in my opinion, but not essential for our beginner kits.

In general, you don't need special rules or templates, even for appliqués, which are ready to cut.

Absolutely! Fibra Creativa really likes modern patchwork, which differs from contemporary patchwork (while being rather recent).

In short, modern patchwork or modern patchwork is characterized by minimalist prints, simple geometric shapes, often a solid background but not always white - the famous negative space - and often an asymmetrical composition.

In the Fibra Creativa range, you will find many models of modern patchwork kits, for a variety of uses and for all levels, both beginners and experienced quilters:

Absolutely! Since my love at first sight nearly 20 years ago with a superb contemporary quilt, it has been my favorite patchwork style.

The Fibra Creativa range therefore includes several models (and many more to come). kits of contemporary patchwork, with colorful prints, artworks, elaborate or creative shapes, often asymmetrical.

In short:

• Our patchwork kits are projects to assemble after cutting the fabrics. Often, "quilting" (matelassage) is the last step before finishing, but it is not always mandatory.
• Our quilting kits include a fabric panel ready to quilt or matelasser. There is no assembly to do. The design is meant to be enhanced by beautiful quilting, by hand, by machine, in straight lines or free quilting, to your taste. These are "wholecloth" quilt patterns (made from a single piece), for quilters who love quilting, or those who want to experiment and improve. The Christmas table runner pattern is a good example.

After making 2 traditional log cabin quilts at the beginning, I took a contemporary turn, which does not prevent me from admiring the magnificent traditional patchworks like the legendary quilts.

The Fibra Creativa range includes traditional patchwork models with our personal touch, modernized, designed from our original prints:

• patchwork kits to make from iconic artworks, like the Monet quilt blooming with water lilies and agapanthus.
• Models with birds, flowers, ...
• Models based on traditional patchwork blocks, made with original prints.

All our kits are original creations from the FibraCreativa studio. We do not offer kits based on commercial fabric, nor fabric by the meter from well-known brands such as Art Gallery Fabrics, Robert Kaufman, Liberty, Mona Luna, Andover, Quilting Treasures, etc.

Our first kit models were based on collections from major patchwork fabric brands, but over time, we realized that we love creating textile patterns too! And that gives us more flexibility.

The Fibra Creativa collection therefore includes simple patchwork patterns to make, with tutorials to guide you. Our clever kits avoid complicated measurements and minimize the risk of mistakes. These complete kits most often contain all the necessary fabrics, and sometimes even the batting, which also makes your life easier.

We recommend starting with small projects, like baby blankets or decor accessories such as cushions or table runners, which are much easier to quilt than large double bed throws!

Not all our patterns are suitable for beginners, however, because we also think of experienced quilters and we love creative projects that pose challenges! If a pattern you like is marked as not recommended for beginners, trust us, wait until you have gained a bit of experience, it will save you a lot of frustration.

Most patterns are pieced, but there are also patterns of appliquéd quilts or with appliqué effect, and patterns that combine both:

• Kits for those who like the appliqué technique. To simplify the task, the pieces to cut and apply are printed on the fabric, no need for templates. The Autumn Leaves Table Runner is one of these.
• "Fake appliqué" pieced patterns, which produce the visual effect of traditionally appliquéd patterns (circles, for example), but actually only require pieced assembly. Convenient for beginners and those who are a bit intimidated by the appliqué technique or are in a hurry.
• "Whole cloth" printed patterns to quilt. These are fabric panels printed with appliqué designs, ready to be quilted. A nice appliqué effect highlighted by quilting, like The Blue Christmas Tree Table Runner.
• Patterns that combine piecing and appliqué, generally of intermediate or advanced level.

For the moment, nowhere. FIbra Creativa is a textile creation studio, located in Catalonia, without an attached patchwork store.

Because most of our kits and fabrics are customizable, we mainly manufacture on order and sell exclusively through our online store.

We sometimes participate in trade shows and fairs, where we will be happy to meet you on occasion.

Absolutely! Masculine-style quilts are the great forgotten in patchwork. It is undoubtedly partly the fault of men who tend to sulk about this hobby that is so pleasant and creative. Even if they are not very numerous to handle the needle, we create plaid kits for men, maybe this will encourage some to start? In any case, masculine patchwork plaids make very beautiful DIY gifts for fathers, grandfathers, brothers and anyone else who might be allergic to pink floral patterns!

These are patchwork kits that encourage you to create your own design, using the provided fabrics and a given technique. They are ideal for quilters who master the basics and enjoy experimenting.

The tutorial explains the technique and gives you guidance on assembly, as well as tips. A photo of a finished quilt is provided, but yours will not look exactly like that one. You can also decide to add fabrics, remove some, vary the shape, etc.
